Krejcikova beats Azarenka and reaches the quarterfinals

Krejcikova beats Azarenka and reaches the quarterfinals French Open winner Barbora Krejcikova has reached the quarterfinals of the Australian Open in a convincing manner. The 26-year-old Czech defeated two-time tournament winner Wiktoria Asarenka from Belarus 6-2, 6-2. Azarenka, who won the Grand Slam tournament in 2012 and 2013, struggled with neck problems during the match.

Krejcikova, unable to advance past the second round in Melbourne, is now battling USA's Madison Keys for a place in the semis. The strong serving 26-year-old, who was in the final at the US Open in 2017, knocked out eighth-placed Spaniard Paula Badosa 6-3, 6-1 in her round of 16.

The tournament is also over for the two-time Grand Slam semi-finalist Maria Sakkari. The Greek lost to the American Jessica Pegula 6: 7 (0: 7), 3: 6.

Bayern: Corona cases as extra motivation

Bayern: Corona cases as extra motivation

Won convincingly away from home and also got a direct comparison: Andrea Trinchieri had every reason to be in a good mood after the 84:77 (42:33) of the FC Bayern basketball team in the EuroLeague at the strong Spanish club Baskonia Vitoria. "It's one of the toughest courts," said the Italian coach.

With nine wins and eleven defeats, Bayern are still in the running for one of the eight playoff places. If Vitoria (7:13) has the same record at the end of the main round, Munich would have the edge. The win could prove very valuable. (Service: EuroLeague Results)

"I've had a lot of games here and there haven't been many wins," said Trinchieri: "The whole team was convincing, we had a stable defense and were very good on offense. A few weeks ago, Baskonia demolished us ." The visitors' top pitchers were Corey Walden, Othello Hunter and Augustine Rubit, each with 17 points. "It's the second half of the season so every game counts. We could use every win," said Hunter.

Trinchieri dedicated the success to the people behind the scenes. "We did it at home for our physio and our team manager who have Corona," said the head coach at MagentaSport: "Sometimes it's like a family. We always travel together, and when someone is ill you are extra motivated.”

After a Rabona flank: Kramer with special praise for Wimmer

Frankfurt am Main (SID) - Patrick Wimmer's Rabona cross, which is well worth seeing, also impressed Frank Kramer. The Austrian does "sometimes crazy things. He's a creative player, you can't take that away from him," said the Arminia Bielefeld coach after the 2-0 (2-0) win at Eintracht Frankfurt: "He did a great job ."

With his spectacular preliminary work for Alessandro Schöpf (27th), the 20-year-old Wimmer also delighted his teammates. "It's this youthful madness. He has something crazy and carefree," said goalkeeper Stefan Ortega at DAZN: "If he stays with himself and works on a few basics that are important to the team, he can become even more valuable."

Wimmer said he had no confidence in his left foot during the action: "If that doesn't work out, I also know that I can listen to something properly." Kramer explained with a wink: "Actions like the assist you have to give him credit for, and before he takes his left, it's better that way."

Even before his feat, the Austrian junior international had scored the lead himself (5th) and paved the way for Arminia, who have been unbeaten in five Bundesliga games. Eintracht, on the other hand, had to accept the next setback in the fight for Europe and are still waiting for their first win of the year.

With 21 points, the Bielefeld team left the relegation zone, at least temporarily. "It's important that we're above the line in the end," said Ortega. "You shouldn't write us off."

Without many starters and with an improvised defense due to injuries and the suspension of Jérôme Boateng, Lyon managed to win the three points thanks to a penalty converted by Moussa Dembélé in the 15th minute.

After this victory, Lyon are provisionally tenth, while Saint-Etienne are mired after their seventh consecutive defeat and continue to sink in Ligue 2.

For Lyon, the goal of finishing on the podium is still a long way off, but with this victory they were provisionally six points behind Olympique de Marseille (3rd).

"It's an important and well-deserved result," Lyon coach Peter Bosz said after the game.

"We didn't get the second goal and that's why I didn't stay calm until the end", acknowledged the coach of the local team.

The leaders, Paris Saint-Germain, welcome Reims (14th) on Sunday.

Before this weekend, PSG are 11 points ahead of second-placed Nice (16th), who also visit Metz on Sunday.

Ansu Fati suffers new injury and could miss rest of Barcelona season

After spending two months recovering from a muscle problem and returning to play last week, striker Ansu Fati has confirmed a new injury. This Friday, Barcelona announced that shirt 10 has a bruise on the femoral biceps of his left thigh.

Barcelona have not released the striker's recovery period, but the Spanish press says that Ansu Fati will not be out for less than two months. There is also the possibility of the athlete having surgery, which could prevent him from playing on the field again during the season.

Ansu Fati was a substitute in Barcelona's defeat by Athletic Bilbao, last Thursday, in the Copa del Rey, in the Basque Country. Shirt 10 entered the second half, but had to leave the field at the beginning of overtime. The Catalan club was eliminated.

In the current season, Ansu Fati made just ten appearances for Barcelona. The 19-year-old scored five goals and provided one assist. Last season was also one of problems for the youngster, after a knee injury that forced him to undergo surgery.

Henrique "Zezinho", who is a professional FIFA 22 player, has been suffering in his preparation for the dispute of a FIFA Global Series qualifying tournament. Zezinho is prevented from training and competing in the virtual game because of hacking attacks on his PlayStation account.

The player from Rio Grande do Sul has already suffered, since the last edition of the game (FIFA 21), for five opportunities with attacks: "It's the fifth time my account has been hacked since the FIFA 21 Playoffs. In the end, I was banned and ended up playing by an EA injunction. I was banned for passing coins. Hackers got into my account, passed coins and that's it. Then I was able to recover because I proved it was a hacker attack."

Despite complying with all security requirements, such as two-step verification and security question, in addition to the password, of course, criminals manage to break into the professional player's account and change the account registration email.

Zezinho complains about Sony's service with his case. According to the player, he is not offered the possibility to regain access to the account: "The only thing they tell me is to create a new account. I'm already studying to process".

In preparation for the tournament that qualifies the athletes for the FIFA Global Series, Zezinho fears not being able to compete in the stage and, therefore, not having the right to seek classification for the competition at world level.

An unusual scene drew attention at the premiere of the 2022 Alagoan Championship. In the match between CSA and Aliança, a bid at the end of the first half took over social media.

An act of fair play by goalkeeper Flávio, from the visiting team, with forward Clayton, who was playing at home, was greatly applauded by the crowd at the Rei Pelé Stadium. When Clayton suffered an injury to his left knee and the medical team took care of a teammate who was also injured, Flávio decided to help, since the stretcher cart had not been activated.

It was then that the goalkeeper lifted the opponent in his lap and took him to his team's bench, where he would be better treated by the medical team. In an interview, Flávio reported that: "I saw him screaming, calling the stretcher-bearer's attention, and the stretcher-bearer said he couldn't get in. So I went there, asked if he wanted help, he said he wanted it, because he couldn't walk, he was feeling a lot of pain... I had the attitude of putting the player in my arms and leaving it on their bench. Then Clayton really thanked me, said God bless me, that he noticed that I have a good heart... I hope he's okay and that nothing bad has happened to him."

The striker will be reassessed by the medical department of the CSA this Friday and can miss the club against Sousa, from Paraíba, for the Northeast Cup, at 18:30 on Sunday.
